Matana

Althea Non-profit Organization is asking you to help raise $4,000 to provide a prosthesis for Matana. At nineteen years old, Matana suffered from a tragedy during the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Her house collapsed on her, resulting in the loss of one of her legs.

Following the accident, Matana was fortunate enough to receive a prosthetic leg from a local charity. The prosthesis served her well for 3 years at which point it should have been replaced to prevent any muscular or skeletal problems. Now, 11 years after the original incident, she continues to use the same worn down prosthetic because she cannot afford a replacement. Matana’s unfit and run-down prosthesis causes her severe pain and risks further complications to her health.

Despite her obstacles, Matana continues to work in the cleaning industry in Florida. Matana has been able to save over half of the funds required to replace her inadequate prosthesis and Althea Non-profit Organization is asking for your support to raise the rest. Her pain may keep her from working if she continues to use her old prosthetic leg.

Our friends at Falk Prosthetics & Orthotics Inc. will be fabricating the prosthetic leg for Matana. They have contributed vast resources towards our mission to help underserved individuals in need get prosthetic limbs, including a donation of $2,500 towards Matana.
